Wood is a natural material which has a lot of applications in outdoor wall panelling. Hoebeek recommends the following kinds of wood:

• Western Red Cedar
• Larch
• Scandinavian Redwood
• Afzelia Doussié
• Padouk

Due to the permanent exposure of the wood to the weather conditions, natural durability is important. Wood species of durability classes I and II do not need extra protection. Wood species with a low natural durability (III - IV) do need to be treated with protective products against rotting, mildew and damage from insects.

Under the influence of sun and rain the wood will turn grey. In order to prevent this, a surface treatment with coloured oil or stain or paint is necessary.

To obtain a uniform greying of Cedar wood, Hoebeek has the solution: SILVER

Wood on a wall requires a correct installation. Technical details related to rainwater drainage, corner and window finishes are extremely important.
